Scott Miller Healthy Hound Den

The Healthy Hound Den……For a Fitter, Happier Hounds & Their Owners!

New for Dogstival this May is the Healthy Hound Den and we’re delighted to have TV Vet Dr Scott Miller, resident ITV’s This Morning & his very own Vet on the Hill show.

Dogstival is all about understanding more about our best four-legged friends, we all know the importance of exercise, but perhaps less about basic canine first aid or taking care of their health from puppy to their senior years.

As it’s (fingers crossed) the start of a glorious summer and dog-lovers take to the roads for weekend breaks, festivals or trips abroad, the Healthy Hound Den will give advice on keeping your pooches ‘match fit’ in the warmer months along with the health benefits of getting them to have fun in the water.

Scott will be delivering a range of demonstrations and talks across the weekend on all manner of health and wellbeing topics. Joined by guests from the world of canine healthcare and nutrition including leading surgeon Dr Michael Hamilton.

Dr Michael Hamilton

Michael is a recognised specialist in small animal surgery, a clinical director and a consultant orthopaedic & spinal surgeon

He joined Fitzpatrick Referrals as a Senior orthopaedic and spinal surgeon in 2008 where he worked for five years before leaving to set up his own surgical referral service Hamilton Specialist Referrals one of the UK’s leading practises.

Joined by his team of vet nurses, Michael will be sharing his extensive knowledge in complex surgical procedures including; joint replacements, spinal surgery and advanced tumour resections. He has a particular interest in cruciate ligament injury, elbow dysplasia and spinal surgery and has lectured nationally and internationally on these and many other topics.

Understanding Canine Nutrition

There will even be a ‘pop-up Demonstration Kitchen’ where we’ll dissect some of the dog foods on supermarket shelves and evaluate against the benefits of raw and fresh food diets. There will be plenty of delicious tasters to go around!

There’ll be a chance to ask Scott all manner of questions, lots of canine audience participation and fun quizzes for kids too

About Scott…….

Oddly his big break came via Big Brother, when the contestants’ chickens fell poorly and they needed vet. Scott rushed to the coupe, fixed them up and provided a staring cameo that has helped forge a growing career in TV.

An accomplished senior practicing Veterinary Surgeon with 21 years experience in the industry.  He has experience in both corporate, independent, welfare and charity Veterinary practice, while having set up from scratch four independent veterinary practices both in the UK and Europe.

Scott has also enjoyed a long career in media, appearing on camera to present items for This Morning, BBC Breakfast and The Paul O’Grady show to hosting his own programme Vet on The Hill for 7 series aired internationally.  Scott has written and published a book called Puppy Parenting and acts as advocate or patron for a number of animal charities including Street Paws and All Dogs Matter.
